Sean Penn in Tahrir Square today to support The Egyptian Revolution

Sean Justin Penn (born August 17, 1960) is an American actor, screenwriter and film director, also known for his political and social activism. He is a two-time Academy Award winner for his roles in Mystic River (2003) and Milk (2008), as well as the recipient of a Golden Globe Award for the former and a Screen Actors Guild Award for the latter

The US film star  and Two-time Oscar winner Sean Penn makes surprise appearance at today's Tahrir Square protest today Friday September 30 2011. In an attempt to draw attention and support the Egyptian revolution and its protest against recent unpopular moves by Egypt’s ruling military council

"The world is inspired by the call for freedom by the courageous revolution of Egypt,” Penn, waving an Egyptian flag, told Ahram Online from the square. “There are still struggles forward, there are constitutional issues, there [needs to be] a transition of power from the military to the people.”

Penn is among the most prominent Hollywood actors who adopts political views that are often against US foreign policy. He strongly opposed former US President George W. Bush's decision to invade Iraq.
